About this tool

Mulch is cheap by the bag and misleading by the yard, so this calculator does the honest conversion: enter your bed as length × width or a direct square-foot figure, pick 2, 3 or 4 inches of depth (or a custom depth), and get cubic yards, cubic meters and the number of 2-cubic-foot bags to load into the trunk. Depth guidance is built in because more is not better: shrubs like 2 to 3 inches, trees want 3 to 4 inches, and weed suppression needs about 3 inches of coverage to actually block light. There is a cost field for bag pricing, and a warning about mulch volcanoes — piling mulch against trunks rots bark and invites insects. Nothing is uploaded; it is all local math.
