About this tool

X counts characters differently from any text box: every link is compressed to 23 characters no matter how long it is, and CJK glyphs take two slots. This counter replicates that weighted math (a simplified CJK model — full-width East Asian ranges count 2), so 280 means 280 the way X means it. Type or paste a draft and the bar under the box turns amber near the limit and red the moment you are over, with the exact over-draft figure shown. Drafting a thread? The splitter breaks long text into numbered posts, preferring sentence boundaries and falling back to word boundaries, each chunk with its own copy button. Switching to X Premium mode moves the target to 25,000 characters for long-form writers. Everything runs inside this page — your text is never sent anywhere.
