1. Tap the big button (or press Space) in time with the beat, 4+ times.
2. Read live BPM, average gap and jitter — keep tapping to stabilize.
3. Optionally start the metronome click at the detected tempo.

About this tool

Tap along with any track — or a drummer's four-count — and this tool turns your taps into a tempo reading. It keeps the last sixteen timestamps, averages the gaps between them, and divides 60,000 by that average to give beats per minute, updating live as you tap. Because human tapping wobbles, it also reports the standard deviation of your intervals in milliseconds as jitter: under about 15 ms is steady, over about 40 ms means the reading is a guess. A built-in metronome click can lock to the detected tempo so you can hear how close you were; it is a plain oscillator, so it works offline. Tap the button or press Space at least four times, then reset between songs. Nothing is recorded, transmitted or stored.
