Honest note: voice quality depends on your device (Chrome and Edge on Windows/Android usually ship the best neural voices), there is no studio-grade narration, and it cannot save an audio file — it is a reader, not an exporter.

Is my text uploaded to a server?

No. Speech synthesis runs on your device through the browser's built-in engine — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps reading.

Can I download the audio as MP3?

Not with this tool — the Web Speech API plays audio without exporting it. Recording your device output is a separate matter; check local rules before recording.

Why do some voices sound robotic?

Voices come from your operating system. Installing your platform's enhanced/neural voice packs (free on Windows, Android and iOS) upgrades the quality instantly.

Is there a length limit?

No practical limit — long text is queued sentence-by-sentence. Extremely long pastes may pause briefly between chunks on older phones.
