NATO Phonetic Alphabet Translator — Text to Alfa…Zulu
Two-way translator: text to NATO code words and back, with copy support.
Quick answer: Convert text to NATO phonetic code words and decode them back in one click — ideal for clear radio calls, spellings, and check-ins, free and private.
How to use
- Type or paste plain text, then press Encode to NATO.
- Copy the code words, or paste code words and press Decode.
- Unknown tokens come back flagged so nothing is silently lost.
About this tool
When a spelling has to survive a bad phone line, aviation and military operators spell it in the NATO phonetic alphabet: A becomes Alfa, 9 becomes Niner. Paste your text and this translator encodes every letter and digit to its official ITU code word — B and P stop being twins — with spaces shown as the standard slash separator and a period read as Point. The decoder runs the other way: paste Alfa Bravo Charlie (or your own transcription from a radio log) and it rebuilds the original text, flagging anything it cannot map instead of silently guessing. Flight-sim players, ham-radio newcomers, call-center trainers, and writers checking dialogue all use it; everything runs locally in this tab, so nothing you encode is transmitted anywhere. Your file never leaves this page — processing runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded and the data is dropped from memory when you close the tab.
