About this tool

Dictation practice needs a reader, and this page is one. Paste or type your word list — one word per line, saved automatically in your browser for next time — then start the practice run: your browser's speech engine pronounces each word, the student types it, and Enter checks it case-insensitively. Correct answers tick the score up; misses go on a running list you can step back through with prev/next and re-hear with the repeat button. At the end you get the score, the accuracy percentage and the full missed list, and the whole session exports as a text file for records. Spoken practice needs a browser with speechSynthesis (all major ones have it — the tool checks and tells you if yours doesn't). Your file never leaves this page — processing runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded and the data is dropped from memory when you close the tab.
