Dead Pixel Test — Fullscreen Red, Green, Blue & White

Pure full-screen colors one keypress apart — find dead and stuck pixels honestly.

Quick answer: Flood your whole screen with pure red, green, blue, white and black to spot dead, stuck and sub-pixel defects before your warranty window closes.

This test paints your entire screen solid red, green, blue, white and black, one color at a time, so single-pixel defects become visible. Use it to inspect a new or suspect display — it finds problems, it does not repair them.

What to look for:
• Dead pixel — permanently off (a black dot on every color).
• Stuck pixel — frozen on one color (a red, green or blue dot that never changes).
• Sub-pixel defect — a tiny red, green or blue glint or flicker, easiest to see on white.

How to use

  1. Close distracting windows, set brightness to normal, press Start fullscreen test.
  2. Step through red, green, blue, white and black with click, Space or the → key.
  3. Scan slowly: dead = black everywhere, stuck = one frozen color, sub-pixel = faint flicker.
  4. Press Esc or the exit button to return; photograph any defect for your warranty claim.

About this tool

New monitor, new laptop — the first weeks are when dead pixels make themselves known, and spotting a single dark dot on a busy desktop is nearly impossible. This test makes it easy: it takes your entire screen fullscreen and floods it with pure red, green, blue, white and black, one color at a time. Click, tap, press Space or the arrow keys to advance; Esc or the on-screen exit button brings you back here. On solid colors, defects pop out: a pixel that stays black on every color is dead, one frozen on red, green or blue is stuck, and faint colored flicker is a sub-pixel defect. Honest limits: this tool helps you FIND defective pixels for warranty claims — it cannot FIX them; anyone promising pixel repair is selling hope.

FAQ

Dead pixel or stuck pixel — which is which?
Dead = permanently off, black on every color. Stuck = frozen on one color, a red, green or blue dot. Sub-pixel defects flicker faintly on white.
Can this tool fix dead pixels?
No — and we will not pretend otherwise. It only helps you find them, for example before a warranty window closes; repair means panel replacement.
How close should I look?
About 30–50 cm in normal lighting works; taking a photo of each color and zooming in is also a great way to document defects.
Does showing solid colors damage my screen?
No — solid colors are as gentle as display content gets; OLED users may simply avoid leaving static images for hours, as with anything.
Why do I need fullscreen?
Desktop icons, docks and scrollbars hide single-pixel defects; a solid fullscreen color removes every distraction so your eyes scan the panel grid.
